About The Artist
Painting to me is a way of investigating the world conciously and is a way of expanding ones imagination and perception of the material and spiritual. Having studied Painting at Syracuse University and graduating in 2009, I attended art residencies such as Vermont Studio Center in 2011, Maryland Hall Center for the Creative Arts in 2012, The Rome Art Program with SVA of NYC in 2013, and Chautauqua Institution in 2009 and 2015. In 2013 I earned my MA in Critical Studies at Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore MD where I started applying my understanding visual culture through project caving and critical theory, with my thesis Theorizing the Cave Symbolic for Feminist Critique. Ali now resides in Saratoga Springs since 2016 where she sells bicycles, paints, and teaches violin. Her studio is located in Saratoga Springs where she paints/draws portraits, the natural world/animals, and experiments with new media like stained glass and bike parts.
